Foster Parent Training

All foster parents are required to complete pre-service training before being licensed.  The amount of pre-service training required varies from state to state.  Foster parents are also required to complete on-going training in order to renew their license when it expires.  The amount of on-going training required also varies from state to state. 

Staff Training

The purpose of the staff development plan is to establish written guidelines in regards to the staff training plan.  Lifeway for Youth (LFY) staff are required to complete a 20-40 hour orientation session depending on their position.  Furthermore LFY case managers are required to attend at least 15 hours annually of continuing education related to childcare and foster care issues. These trainings vary with the observed needs of the youth and families. Training is offered under the direction of Dr. Michael Berner, Executive Director of Lifeway for Youth.
