Becoming A Foster
Parent Becoming a foster parent for Lifeway is a process that involves several steps that give us the chance to get to know you better, give you the training that you need, and to ensure that a proper match is made between the foster home and the foster child. Below is what you might expect when you first contact Lifeway: Initial Contact: When you call our office or talk with a staff member, they will answer any questions you might have and take some information about you and your family. Orientation Training: The next step is coming to an orientation at one of our offices and filling out paper work and gathering the necessary information for your background check. After the initial orientation, there is a 12 session training program that you will need to complete in order to continue the process to become licensed. Home Study: Next, one of our licensing specialists will come out to your home and complete a home study. This is to gather more information about your family, home, and other people that might be living in your house. This step ensures that your home complies with the standards that are set forth by the state in order to be licensed. Licensing/Certification: Your application materials will be reviewed upon completion to determine your eligibility to become licensed. Child Placement: Upon completing the licensure process, your home will be considered for the placement of children in response to referrals from and in collaboration with the public agency.
